Can you identify this part?

I had the top off of my old 60 HP Yamaha and noticed this part was loose. It is very clean. The wire part has a slight bend in it. Does anyone know what it is? Is it important? How do I reattach it?

I believe the motor is a 1994-6 or so

I believe the motor is a 1994-6 or so. I can't find the documentation unfortunately. I plan to go take a look at everything this weekend. i'll gather some information.

Plunger for the choke solenoid.

It goes in the black cylinder shaped solenoid shown here:

the other end attaches to the carb linkage, center if i remember correctly.....
