  • Yamaha cables

I need new shifter/throttle cables. I'm gonna take the old ones off, measure them, and order new ones.
Are there any hi-tech things I need to know, or is the install as easy as it looks.
    This is a 1999 60hp yammie.

    Any help appreciated thanks, Tim

they are a piece of cake, also there should be the size of them stamped on the housing, about 18 inches from either end.

While you're at it, you can attach a pull cord to pull through with the cable. Tie it off to something and then the next time you need to run a cable or wire, it'll be ready to go. Have you looked for a pull cord that may have been left in there from previous work?

Thanks. Luckily I don't have to do any pulling. I have a Carolina Skiff, and the cables are easy to get to.
I bought it new 13 years ago.
Actually the cables are in good condition, I just think it's time for new ones. New steering too.
