  • f115 power prop advice

Anyone have any experience with a 4 blade 15 or 17 pitch on a 115 four stroke? Aluminum or SS?

I have an '02 four stroke 115 on an '02 Cresliner Sportfish walkthrough. Most of my use is fishing and I have a 13" 21 pitch and a 13" 19 pitch prop. I mostly use the 19 pitch and it will run up to 6000 rpm and 37 mph GPS. The 21 pitch gets the same top speed but only pulls 5400 rpm and takes a while to get there. My kids like to wake board and the 19 pitch will pull them out fine, but I am an old slalom skier so I picked up a nice ski, but getting out of the water takes it all out of me, so not much fun once up. I am wondering if a 4 blade prop of 15 or 17 pitch would give me a better hole shot and power to pull a skier out without dragging them 30 yards first. Wondering if someone has tried a similar set up.

      success

Tried out my new Solas Amita 4 13" 15 pitch and am very happy with the performance. Did not time my hole shot, but it feels like I cut it in half. I am also out of the water quickly on a slalom ski. Only lost 1 mph GPS at top speed from my 19 pitch 3 blade. The only thing that surprised me was cavitation when turning under some accelleration. My motor is all the way down on the transom. Might try moving it up an inch, but this seems counter intuitive to me.

Hit the wall with the F115 slalom

This is in reference to a 2000 Yamaha 115hp four stroke outboard on a 17 foot v.
I started with the suggested 19 pitch 13 1/4 diameter 3 blade prop and it felt good. Was able to hit 45 MPH on GPS and bounce it off the rev limiter on a calm day.
Decided to try to get up on a slalom ski and it wouldn't work. Proped down to a 17 pitch 3-blade and it made it up to 4500 rpm where it would sit until I let go of the rope. I have ordered 2 more props through boats.net. These are now 4 blade Solas Amita 15 and 17 pitch. If one of these works I'll try a Solas 4 blade stainless steel.
I really thought when buying the boat that a 115 OB would be enough to do the trick..... So far I am a little discouraged at the bottom end ability of it but without a load, it rips really well.
If anyone out there is able to get a 200 pound person up on a slalom ski without dragging them off a dock with one of these engines, PLEASE let me know what works for propping. The cost of props is cheaper than a new engine but a new boat altogether is starting to look apealing.

          Any luck with the prop

          Hi,

I was wondering which prop you finally settled with.

I have a 2003 F115 four stroke engine and having a heck of a time getting on plane when fully loaded with 2 or more people with dive gear.

          I am currently running a 13 x 19 on my wellcraft 18 CC.

I would like to improve my hole shot and also be able to pull my kids on wake boards.

thank in advance for your feedback.

            good results with prop

I ended up with a Solas Amita 4 blade 13inch 15 pitch aluminum prop. I am 170 pounds and it pulls me out of the water without any problem on a slalom ski. Wake boards were not a problem with my 3 blade 13" 19 pitch, but would not pull me out efficiently on the slalom.

The 4 blade gets on plane in a hurry with 4 adults on board and I did not lose much in terms of top end either. Very happy with the new prop.

            Good luck.

              Got it all figured out!

I purchased a couple of low dollar props from boats.net and tried them out.
My personal preference goes to: Solas Amita 4 Propeller 4X13X15R Aluminum part#3413-130-15
I still hit high 30mph range by GPS and it'll pull me out on my slalom ski decent enough (quite well). I haven't bothered going back to the others (all 4!).

Now.... I'm considering going stainless (Solas HR Titan 4 Propeller 4X13X17R Stainless Steel) but after the last testing I can't afford to do the same in the stainless prop ****. I'm considering testing some props at a boat shop instead.

Anyone try the Titan 4 on a 90-115 hp outboard?
