  • 2004 200hp hpdi issues

Ok quick rundown, I bought my boat last year with twin 2004 200HP HPDI's. The guy told me about an rpm split between the 2 motors and I saw there was about a 1000 rpm difference between the two motors. STBD motor gets about 3600 rpm's at WOT. port motor is at 4600 rpm's at WOT. The previous owner seemed to think it was a throttle cable issue?? The motors seem to idle smooth at 700 RPM's and I haven't had any other issues. The boat has sat for about 5 months and I took her out on thursday for the first time in a while. Fuel was stabilized before I left for deployment. Put a 100 bucks of fresh fuel in her and took her out. Both motors fired right up and seemed fine. I get out of the inlet and push the throttles down and I only get 2500 rpms on both motors at WOT??? Seemed to me like the motors were in limp mode. I run at 2500 for a while to get to some fresh fuel, and we fish for a while. Get ready to run back to the ramp and as were limping in the low oil alarm goes off on the port motor. I shut her down put a gallon in the tank start her up and continue to head in, I push the throttles down and she jumps right up on plane 4600 on the port, 3600 on the stbd. I'm like WTF?? I run her around for a while to burn through some gas and get her back on the trailer. On saturday I do my maintenance, changed VST filter (neither of them needed it, not clogged at all) both medium pressure fuel filters, fuel filter in cup, and all spark plugs. I ran the diagnostic on the stbd motor and pull code 28 the shift switch. This is the motor I've been having the rpm issue with, Could this shift switch be cause the rpm issue cause when I was running the diagnostic I put the motor into gear and the #2 and #3 cylinders did not light up or engage, and when I went to run the active test on the cyclinders it wouldn't let me cause it said I had to be in neutral, the motor was in neutral? Should I just replace the shift switch or do I have a bigger problem here??

Check adjustment, if that is OK then replace switch

WOT RPM seems too low on both motors, might have motor checked with Yamaha test prop to make sure motors are putting out like they should.

Then see about re propping to get WOT to 5500
