Trim motor replacement 93' 70TLRR

Does the outboard need to be removed from the transom to replace the trim motor on a 1993 70 TLRR? Also, in order to test the current motor do I touch the green and the blue wires that are connected to the trim relay directly to the battery?

May be able to remove trim unit bolts from transom bracket and tilt forward enough to get access to back bolts.
Make sure you remove the large green and blue wires from relay before connected them to a battery but yes connecting wires to battery should make trim motor run.
