Have a new 25 hp yamaha 4 stroke on my Alumcraft 16' Lunker. Second time out I hit a rock and curled the prop slightly. Not wanting to run with damaged prop,I want to go Stainless. My Yamaha came with a 9/7/8 x 10 1/2
prop. My boat load consists of 2 batteries,6 gal. fuel tank,,*****ing motor, tackle box and poles. Two people max weight of 450 lbs. My question is:what diameter/pitch should I go with to maintain reasonable speed, and hole shot? Another question, what should my max rpm be with this engine?
I realize I don't have a speed demon here, but speed was reasonable before I damaged the prop, hole shot was good and boat got up on plane real good with two people and gear. Thanks!

You will see a increase in performance with a stainless prop even if you don't change the pitch. I would say it would be safe to go with a 1" increase in pitch without any issues maybe more than that. It's really hard to say without a variety of props and a tachometer to do some test runs with. As far as diamter what I seen for my 25 was between 10 and 10.25. I have a 10 and 1/8 on my motor and it seems to be fine. Also be careful around the rocks with the steel prop, it doesn't bend as easy as aluminum but it is harder on your motor if you hit rocks with it.

What was your WOT RPM before you messed up your prop?

You can look up a set up like yours on this site Performance Bulletins | Yamaha Outboards
To see what prop they used or stick to the size you were running before if the WOT was proper before

Don't know,no way to check it. Motor was just broke in. What size/pitch would be recommended over my stock size?
