2006 f150 will only rev to 2K while under load in the water. On the trailer water connected, in neutral throttle cable disconnected the moter rev freely and purrs like at kitten, idles smooth. All the obvious things like linkage etc are in perfect order. Any help out there?

the engine does not require timing when it is not under a load out of the water thus will rev up,, it sounds like it is in rpm reduction mode. which is approx. 1800 rpms.. are there any alarms or warning lights. we have been having lots of injector and vst issues. you could have a fuel restriction, try a portable fuel tank and see how that works,
