Took my boat out today, it ran great untill late this afternoon. All of a sudden it started bogging down I pulled the throttle back, and then tried to give it the gas and it just bogged and only got up to 2500 rpm's, tried several times same thing. So I put it in neutral and fast idle and rev'd the motor up to 5500 rpm's then put it in reverse and gave it the throttle and it rev'd up and worked perfect. I thought power pack or coil till I rev'd it in neutral and reverse gear. Then thought a linkage broke that advances the timing but it's fine...Has anyone else experienced this and how to fix?

You should never rev a motor in neutral, fast idle is all.
your motor can run away and come apart by reving it like that
Without a load not much fuel is needed and reverse does not load the motor like forward
But would be a good idea to check timing and everything else again to make sureLast edited by 99yam40; 07-05-2012, 10:09 AM.
