LCD oil/tach/trim instructions

Hi, I have recently purchased a boat with a 1988 Yami 130hp two stroke. It hasn't seen much use for the last three years so I took it in for service(plugs,impellor,lower unit oil etc). Everything checked out great with good comp. and the carbs were not clogged. I have no manuals for this motor and do not fully understand the oiling system alarms if someting were to happen. The service shop said that on this year no beep sounds when turning the key to indicate that the beeper still works. I requested that they check the alarm system and they said it works fine. What could I buy or download to give me an explanation out what to look for. I looked a service manual that seemed more troubleshooting than instructional minded. I have been running the boat and the motor runs great.

I think you can pull the kill lanyard and then turn the key to on or maybe it was start to test the buzzer, if that is what you are asking.

Or maybe pull pink wire from overheat switch and ground it to simulate overheat

That's funny because I don't need the lanyard to start or run the boat. I would like to know what is supposed to happen if it overheats or the oiler system has a problem. Since I have not heard a test buzzer or know what indication shows on the lcd, that makes me uneasy. I would like owner instructions on how it works.

You can go to www.yamaha-motor.com and view owners manual. If overheats or oil level is low then buzzer will sound and engine will go into rpm reduction.

The safety lanyard when pulled off control box should kill the motor.
It is suppose to be attached to the driver of boat and if they fall overboard the motor dies.

Yes, I understand and appreciate what you were trying to communicate. I was thinking maybe some kind of connection between the lack of a safety lanyard and the lack of a test buzzer. I will check out why the lanyard is inop. Thanks
