I am new to Yamaha and would appreciate any help I may get from this board.
This is a 2 stroke oil injection motor. I bought it yesterday and installed it on my 14' boat and tried it on a lake today.
It starts pretty easily and idles ok. But when I turned Grip Throttle to increase the speed, the motor did not response in the first few seconds. I slowly twisted the throttle further and further and at one point the motor suddenly burst into high speed and push the boat forward in fast speed. If I keep the throttle to mid to high, the motor will run ok. But if I turned it back to low speed or idle and then tried to increase the speed the problem will start all over again. What could be the reason for this rough running?
The motor was just serviced by a Yamaha dealer before I bought it. The previous owner showed me the service bill and it says that the carb and the fuel filter has been cleaned and the electrical system has been checked. the service cost him $207.
