  • vapor lock?

I have a 97 Yamaha 250TURV Salwater Series. From the beginning of this season, the motor wil run great for an Hour or so, then stall (never happened previous years). Would start right back up, but stall if given any significant throttle. I would open the bleeder on the water seperater bowl, and a great vacuum pressure would suck into the bowl, before the gas would bleed out. Clean, treated gas, no water. Close bleeder, and motor would run great, but for less time, repeating process for rest of day. Replaced all gas lines, including under motor cover, fuel filter element, fuel feed assemby, water sperater element, tank draw tube (tank new 2 years), anti-siphon fitting, vent hose, and vent. No change. Told a couple repair shops, they say what Ive done should have worked. But they have never mentioned vapor lock. What is it, and does it sound like the culprit? And how can I fix it? Thanks, looking forward to some replies.

Get a 6 gallon portable gas tank and hose , connect to fuel filter on engine bypassing boat fuel system, see if runs ok. If does then still have a fuel restriction in boat fuel system.

Check the vent on your gas tank. Clogged, hose crimped etc.

monitor fuel pressures/vacuum at different points in fuel system to help locate where the restriction is located
