96' 8T, lower unit bearing housing removal

Hey all,

When disassembling for impeller replacement on a new to me 8T, the drive shaft is frozen to the engine and I forced the shaft free from the lower unit instead. I need to access the gearcase in l/u to retrieve and see if I need a new circlip and/or pinion gear. Can the bearing housing be removed without a puller or do I def. need one for access ? Do I need a specific puller ?
