I have a 1997 SX200TXRW 200HP with 3 carbs. Usually, I top out at about 5k rpm with a Mirage 15.5 x 17. Yesterday rpms would only go to 2500 in forward and slowly grow to about 4K. In reverse, rpms go to 5K, fast, no problem. No missing, no other problems. Reverse is perfect. Cable and linkage perfect. Gas is good. Could this be a fuel pump or pumps issue? Low pressure?

W is a 1998 model but made in 97, so you just added an extra X behind the S.
Never hurts to check compression, spark, timing, and fuel pressure and vacuum on pumps and leak test like they stated to be sure, also need to make sure it is not sucking air along with fuel do to a bad connection.
Running under load takes more fuel, and reverse does not load the motor like forward does, so sounds like you have a fuel supply or a carb problem

clean fuel tank intake
I had a clogged intake screen in my fuel tank with similar issues. Clean intake screen and ball check valve.

A fuel pressure/vacuum test of before and after replacing should have shown the problem and if it was fixed.
Replacing parts and hoping just rubs me the wrong way
