yamaha mariner 60 hp

i have a 1980s mariner 60hp engine which i believe is a yamaha unit badged by mariner. it is a european model the serial no starts in 675.

it has a badly cracked gear housing which needs replacing. the gear casing is single piece which i think makes it a slightly later model

i have been offered a yamaha 55hp from the same era. from the pictures ive seen it looks identical in every way is it ???.

is this essentially the same machine just less cc's. i would like to buy it if it is to take some of the parts off for mine ie starter and gear casing

I don't know I don't have any cross over information on it, the only way is lay them side by side and compare.

its about 300 miles away !! for us in the uk thats a major drive given the state of our road network which is pretty awful (busy)!! thanks anyway im going to try and get a few of the part nos for comparison
