  • Analogue tachos for 9.9

    G'day from Downunder,
I've got a sailboat with a pair of high thust 9.9's. I'd like to put a pair of tachos on. Three questions:
    1. Anologue or digital?
    2. Is there a gauge that has 2 needles, L and R, or do I need two gauges?
    3. Do I run a line from each engine or from the remote start switches?
    Many thanks.

analog or digital, either is fine, for a portable engine i would use an analog.
    you would need two tachs.
if you have the yamaha wire harness and keyswitch there is a tach lead coming out of the harness.

Thanks. As I have a long distance from the port motor to where the tachs are going to go, which is right next to the keyswitches, my preferred option is to take a wire from the keyswitches; do you know if that is possible? And any suggestion for which tacho kits (x2)?

Use one tach per motor and the dark green wire from from key switch is tach signal and yellow is key on power.
