Hello,
I was out the other day after my engine rebuild from the dealer and I had a problem. He installed a gauge on my boat and left both batteries on. I had a tough time starting her up but the engine finally turned over. I was going through the canals out to the bay at 700 rpm and was putting along. When it was time to open her up the boat wouldn't jump on plane. After punching it a few times on the throttle I was up cruising for 10 minutes at 5000 rpms and went to idle down as I had to get out of the Chanel to my destination. At low rpms the engine bogged down and stalled out. I kept trying to restart the engine up and it would turn over and stal again. I believe the batteries were dead and wasn't running hard enough to get a good charge on them. I threw my anchor and called sea tow. They tried to jump the batteries and Nadda. After a half hour we got the engine to crank over with it in neutral and at 4000 rpms. Engine sounded perfect. But as soon as we let off the throttle down to idle it stalls out. Plenty of fuel, primer bulb got hard. It was just out of the mechanics hands for a top assembly rebuild and added oil injectors as well.
What can cause the boat not to get up on plane and after running for it to just die out? I just spent 2600 on the top rebuild.
It's back at the marina so I can't test anything however I am wondering what could have created this problem I am new to boating. 98 Yamaha 200 sw 2 series.
