test harness

I purchased the flash harness tester for my 2001 yamaha 225 ox66, some manuals mention that if the system is OK it will produce a single flash.
I'm not getting ANYTHING and wondered if anyone else has used a test harness and could pass on any advice. Also, the parts counter said their book showed the model number to END in 95, my book calls it to end with 65.
I worked out my fuel checks and still have an idle/WOT problem and was hoping the harness could point out any ignition / sensor failures.

I was having the same problems on my 225 and it was the throttle position sensor out of adjustment. I also was told it is a good thing to have it checked yearly. The test harness to adjust them with is less than a service call to the dealer. Less than 20.00. Hope this helps.
