does the Yam F250 require a timing belt adjustment?? the website says it has an automatic belt tension system but doesn't say anything about the timing??

No, no adjustment necessary. Just inspect it for cracks or damage annually.

250 timing belt smoking

2006 F250, noticed timing belt starting to smoking at idle, got hot, belt looks to be moving down..shut the engine down, looks like the idler is not turning freely...how would you free it and how bad`would the belt be damaged...thanks for any help.

Don't try to free up, just replace idler and install new belt.

what is the risk of freeing up the old idler?.......whats the best way to maintain alignment/ timing when removing and replacing belt...I'm sure yamaha has a jig that clamps everything in place..other than a service manual, any pdf/ docs out there that tells how this is done....or at least list the 'you really don't want to do this' items.....thanks

Get yourself the service manual, if timing is not right the valve could hit piston and major engine damage could occur, don't take any chances.

f250 belt tension assy.

manual on the way...there should be a tool or eye bolt on the tensioner, according to the schmatic, that can be used to release the tension so the belt can be put on..not on mine...does anyone know what the threads are and or is there an alternate way or tool to use...thanks for any help.
