    operating range is 5000-6000 RPM.

    NOTE
    it is reccomended that for optimum performance and engine life to adjust the WOT engine speed to the top end of the reccomended range.
    that is a direct quote from tune up spec guide(and your owners manual) lit 18559-84-05.

    you did not talk to yamaha.
    or at least not an actual trained tech
    that motor is actually very happy turning 5800 RPM.
    I ran from elizabeth city to kitty hawk bay at 5800 one evening,lighting storm was a chasing me.
    it was about a 30 mile run.

      Well whoever it was answered the 800#, thats all I can tell ya.....

      Im goin to wait until the winter to see what she does with cooler air and make my decision after that. We've been in triple-digit heat so it might make the difference......
