  • Low rpm overheating

I have a 03' SX200hp, 2 cycle, have replaced impellar, thermostats, popit valve and cleaned heads and still have overheating at idle speed. Is peeing but don't think strong enough, used to be stronger. Should I have replaced water pump housing as well? Or any idea what problem might be?

depends, was the housing melted at all?
any sign of housing melt means the housing was destroyed.
only thing that melts housings is lack f water when it was running.

No, not melted, o-ring appeared to be out of position when it came off, but not sure. It just doesn't seen to be pumping enough water?

Did you replace the cup and wear plate with the impeller?

Yes, kit came with cup and wear plate but that was all. What else would interfere with pump pressure?

Make sure grommets for water tube are in properly and also the PRV grommet and valve. If it sticks open it will cause low RPM overheat.
Sounds like you are leaking water out before getting to motor or the pump is not pumping as it should.
Did you buy Yamaha parts or aftermarket?

I put in new popit valve! You're right, it is not getting enough water up to the head for some reason.

you might check to make sure it is still fitting properly and not sticking open

did you replace the valve grommet?
the valve rarely fails, its the grommet.
