Battery Charging, 9.9 high thrust

We are about to replace our 1986 9.9 high thrust and find the factory specs for the closest new equivalent list only a 6 amp electrical output compared to the '86's 13 amps. We know that up until at least 2005 there was a model with a high output battery charging system.

Is such a feature still available either as a retrofit or standard on a new model?
