  • F225 - flashing hours, constant ticking sound

My starboard engine is cycling something when it is not running- sounds like an old typewriter. It's coming from the area where the vapor tank/ fuel pump is. It starts up fine. I haven't had the chance to put it under load. Also the hour odometer is flashing full 8's.

Recently I changed out the batteries, but don't see how that could be related.

    Any suggestion are appreciated.

    Thanks

if it does it only at engine shutdown its normal, its the ISC valve resetting.
on the hour meter check the dip switch settings and the wire connections.

it does it before initial start when the battery switch is turned. essentially whenever there is power to the motor.

      Thanks

double check all your battery connections.
sounds like a ground may have been left off.

You, sir, are correct! I didn't have the green connection hooked up correctly. That's what I get for doing this at night with a flashlight. Now I need to see if I caused any damage. Thanks for the help and direction!
