50 HP Yamaha pisser

I have a 2006 50hp yamaha 2 cycle. Yesterday, tried running her with muffs on and got very little water coming out of pisser. My question is, does the thermostat have to open before the pisser will really piss hard or should it always piss hard when running even though engine is cold.

stat do not have any impact on tell tail stream.
When was last time pump was replaced?

My 40 has hard stream even at idle

check to see if tell tail is plugging up, blow compressed air up it or run a piece of weed eater line up it while motor is running
