40 hp yamaha 2 stroke short shaft is peeing but water coming out of peehole is very hot. Too hot to touch. Any ideas please let me know.

If you are getting this result when using muffs, try running it in a barrel too. If this is happening when on the water check for blockages in the water intake as well. Having said that it may well be the pump is giving out, but I would first check the therrmostat. Easiest to do first. If it checks out. then pull the lower unit off and do the waterpump. -
Yeah it was getting that hot while i was running in the river. Where is the thermostat located?
I will check for blockage, I have already removed the plastic peehole and let the hose hang down.
