1990 225 etxd over charging replaced reg. now, no tach

Hello, I found that is was cooking my batteries,found bad regulator,replaced it with new one that I bought from here.New regulator took care of the over charging,now charging out put is around 14.3v,this is with new batteries.Now I do not have any RPM showing on my meter,oil bars work,tilt/trim works,I have 12v coming thru harness to gauge.What controls tach send on green wire,is it the stator or a another coil?What is the best way to check them at the engine?

Tach signal comes from CDI unit on that motor.
