Impellar fin direction?

I have a 1991 C55ELRP and rebuilt the water pump and reinstalled. No water stream and no water at all coming up through the water pump. Pulled lower unit off and checked impellar....was completely melted. I think I might have put the impellar in wrong. Are the fins supposed to be bent in a CW or CCW position to get them in the insert housing? Checked all the water ways also and they are clear. Got a nice stream out the pee hole using a garden hose.

The fins should bend ccw if you were looking from above. The easy way to align them correctly in the housing is as you're lowering the waterpump housing onto the impellar, turn the driveshaft clockwise to bend the impellar fins in the correct direction.

Thanks. I think I also out the insert cup in a little off center somehow....seemed to be rubbing on the drive shaft and bent cup and put the impellar in a bind. Going to try this again and see what happens. Will post results then.
