  • F115 Power Tilt and Trim slow moving down

I had a problem with my 2001 PT&T in that it had a slow leak and then would not move up or down until I added oil. I took the unit off the boat last fall and I have now rebuilt the tilt and trim cylinders with new seals and "O" rings and checked the gear pump valves etc. and all seem OK. I have the unit in my workshop upright in a vise, when I connect to a battery it pushes the cylinders out very smoothly and quickly, but when I retract them it is much slower and the motor is working harder, particularly when the trim rams pull in. At times it hesitates on the trim rams. Any suggestions or insights into this would be much appreciated.

It would most likely help to have some type of weight on the unit.

Yes I am sure the weight of the motor would help, possibly the fluid flow in the down direction is restricted so it does not fall too fast with the motor weight.
      Thanks
