  • dual station alarms

Since about six months ago, whenever the starbd engine is in nuetral(running or not, key switsh on), a intermittent alarm sounds. As soon as the engine is put in gear(fwd or rev) the beeping stops. The system still works and shifts normally so we have just kind of tolerated the 'beep-beep' because it only beeps from the upper station(lower stbd alarm is inop). However, now the port engine is doing the exact same thing (lower port alarm does work and is loud) and needs to be addressed.

Just to reiterate, everything works perfectly normal. Both engines shift normally from both stations. Both engines start in nuetral and do not in gear. I'm reading that it may be due to the shift cables(actuator to engine) may be getting stretched or something. The cables are probably around five years old. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Sorry, it's the yamaha dual station kit(2 704 binnacles). Mechanical throttles. Electrical actuator for the shift cables. Twin 2005 300 hpdis.

Before you get too far into adjusting cables check for water in fuel filter on engine to make sure it's not the water in fuel alarm.

100% sure it's not water in fuel alarm. That would have thrown a code. And the alarms sound when they're bypassed.

Then need to check check cable adjustments and sync in shift junction box and actuator.
