  • power trim noise

    Hey guys

So my power trim starting making a grinding noise while trimming up on the 2 trim rods. It stops as soon as the motor comes off of the 2 rods and the tilt takes over. I've bled the system and also greased the tips of the rods, trim pads, and every grease fitting on the motor. The noise still exists... I even put rubber on the tips of the trim rods and it still makes noise so I know it's not the tabs or the piston tips....

Upon further inspection I noticed that when the motor is trimmed down, it is pushing the 2 trim rods down at an angle rather than straight down into the cylinders...not sure if this is normal. So, when I trim the motor up (from a full down position) it's almost like the 2 piston rods are grinding their way back up???

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

try putting some lubricant on the lower shaft where it goes through the transom bracket.

I listened to the video a couple of times and the sound is normal except for a little air in the system.

The entire trim/tilt assembly pivots at the bracket, thusly the operating angle of the rams will change, normal.
