28 hp yamaha 'inboard' motor?

I want to buy a little boat to tow my tempest sailboat...and sleep in. The one I like has an Yamaha 28 hp engine (thats all I know about the engine)

I have no idea about engines and motorboats, however I know Yamaha makes good engines.

I am not even shure if it is an outboard engine that comes with the boat. Did Yamaha ever build 28 hp inboard engines? (no)
How reliable can the engine be? (if say 12 years old)
(I need to cross the harbour in Rotterdam)
How can I check if hte engine is ok
Are they easy to repair?
Where can I find even more info on model range?

No Yamaha has never sold one here in USA that I know of. You might check with a European dealer.

Mariner made a 28 hp in the late 70's. Most Mariners under 50 hp were made by Yamaha and imported by Mercury, the parent company. Good luck.
