  • Oil Injection Pump

I have a 1987 ELH 40 hp Yamaha outboard engine and the oil injection pump does not apper to be pumping enough oil to the manifold ports. I have taken the pump off and removed and inspected the driven gear and all appears good. I am currently running a mixture of oil in the gasoline and have some clear tubing that I attached to the output ports of the oil pump. When I start the engine and have the linkage that goes to the carbs disconnected and with the engine at an idle witht the linkage on the pump open to what would be wide open throttle, how much oil is expected to be going to the manifolds? Is there a measured amount of oil over a given time period and if so any idea what that would be. Mine appears to be a very weak amount. Thanks

Not much, that engine uses a 100:1 ratio at full throttle, the service manual has the steps for measuring output to see if pump is working properly.
