1990 70hp carb job

Im new to this but 70 hp after I start it I have to choke it on and on for a while. Then when I put it in gear it start to bog down but if I hit the choke real quick it runs and I can take off. I think its the carbs but I want to see what yall think. If it is my son and I want to take apart and clean the carbs ourselves. Are there any step by step instuctionals. Thanks for any help, Neil

Yes sounds like need to remove and clean carbs, a service manual will help you on cleaning and sync carbs.
