vx 200 tlrb shuts down

I have a 2003 yamaha vx 200 tlrb on 2 occasions motor starts and runs fine for about 1/4 mile and shuts down then have to pump blub to get started again motor may run good for a week without trouble. where do i look first? thanks kingfisher5

Need to check fuel pumps, run a fuel vacumn test to see if have air leaks or restriction in fuel supply system.

In reference to your previous post---" need to check fuel pump" When I replaced spark plugs they appeared to be black and oily. I also have an excessive amount of oil in bottom of cowling.Would this be a further indication of bad fuel pumps?

Fuel pumps wont leak oil but if the diaphram is ruptured it will flood engine with fuel.
Need to check oil lines and run a compression test.
