1986 yamaha 140hp no spark

dont have any trouble starting my outboard at home but will not start when iput it in the lake there is no spark but if i lift the motor up it will start then i wont have a problem all day

Intermittant connection at main plug in? Disconnect-check/clean connections

cleaned the connections on all of the plugs still the same i have been starting motor in the upright position no problem if i lower it down will not fire yet at home with the earmuffs on it will start in the downward position at my wits end

based on the information supplied i would say a break in the loom or a bad pin in the loom plug??
