I have twin 1999 F100X's, and last spring when I first put them in the water I noticed one was spitting water out of the oblong port a few inches below the rear cowling latch. It was also blowing white exhaust through the prop. It ran okay and I used it all summer, but the condition never changed. Does this indicate a bad exhaust gasket somewhere? Any ideas? I am mechanical and have tools, but little experience with large outboards.

F100X exhaust leak?

The exhaust relief hole on back on mid housing will have exhaust and water come out sometimes, it's normal.

Yes, I know, but the amount of water has increased, and the cloud through the prop is new, and both are significantly more than the twin outboard. Just trying to figure out the cause, before it quits me or gets more expensive.

Check the pressure control valve and thermostat to see if stuck open. Run a compression and leak down test on engine.
