Put boat in for 1st time this year and motor was jumping in and out of gear when in forward also was grinding bad when putting shifter in forward. also had shifter in neutral position and motor cranked in gear. We tried to adjust shifter cable and corrected cranking in gear issue but made the jumping in and out of gear issue worse. Another issue is that the bracket that is under the plastic cover that screws to the dash is broke so shifter moves when putting in gear. Could the bracket being broke cause these issues?
