  • Squeaking noise after replacing prop

    Hi,
I had to remove the prop from my 2006 F150 to have it worked on and when I replaced the prop I gave it a spin, by hand, to make sure the prop shaft was not bent. When I spun the prop I noticed a squeaking noise. I can't tell exactly where the noise is coming from. The noise is not exceptionally loud but is very evident.

Any idea as to what could be the cause of this noise?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

The only thing turning will be the prop shaft, so it can't be the input shaft or water pump. Probably just a dry seal. Verify by giving the seal a shot of WD-40 or what have you

The noise will not be an issue in the water..

You were right. Put some lube on the seal and the noise went away. Thanks for the advice.
