  • Installing Head Gasket on 1992 Pro 60

    Hello,

I am looking for some info on what and what not to do when installing a head gasket on my motor. As I stated I have a 1992 Pro 60 and i am putting on a new head gasket. I have not done this before so I want to do things right and in the correct order. I have throughly cleaned off the old gasket from the block and the head. I have the new gasket and a torque wrench with the specs. on what lbs. to tighten the bolts to and the sequence.( the sequence I believe is numbered on the head it self). Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Check to make sure head and block are not warped.
make sure you torque bolts in steps as the manual calls for and re-torque after running also.

What part of gasket gave you trouble and what caused it to become a problem?

      99Yam40,

I have had issues with overheating so I took the head off to see if my water jackets were clogged. I checked the head and it is not warped, but I found a crack in my block. I am sure this is my problem. I am going to take it to a Guru that welds Aluminum and see if he gives me a fighting chance. I will keep you posted as to what happens.
