engine cover not latching on the rear

On my 1993 200 the engine cover latch catch on the front but not on the rear. It looks like the adjustment is as far down as it can go. I am looking for suggestion as how to fix the problem.
Sorry for all the question, the engine is new to me.

does it lock by hand? use a screwdriver to test it. a minor adjust usually does it everytime. make sure cable moves freely also.
