I could hear a loud whinning in the mid section just above the lower unit. I took it to my dealer, and he said it was the shaft bushing in the mid section, he said corrosion gets behind it and tightens the bushing on the shaft, he also said that they usually just sand down the shaft, grease and put it back together or take the bushing out and run without it. He said Yamaha was the only one with this bushing. But thought if Yamaha put it in there it was for a reason, so I told him to replace the bushing with a new one. But after the repair you can still hear the whinng, not quite as bad as before, but still annoying. Has anybody run without this bushing in their motor, I sure would like to end this whinning.
