  • 150 V-Max 1998 model

    My 150 V MAX has developed a miss at idle and low throttle. I have been through the carbi, swapped coils and plugs, but the miss remains on number 1 cylinder. Any idea's?

    need to find out if it is loosing spark to plug or if it is fuel related.
    an inductive timing light should show that

      As stated above, pull the spark plug, ground it to the head and crank it over checking for spark. I suspect if you've changed it all over already, the spark will be fine.

      I would next check compression in that cylinder and compare it to the rest. It should be within 10% of the others.

      If compression is within limits, I would look closely at your carb again for crud build up in the idle/main jets as well as any vacuum line leaks.



      How do you know #1 cylinder is not working and is the problem?

        the how do you know its the #1 cylinder is a good question.

          check lift pumps, could be getting plugs wet, simulating no spark if you only pulled wires
          ohm test plug caps
