1998 model has developed a problem. Starts and Idles fine but does not develop power beyond 3000 Rpm. Usually tops out at around 5000rpm.Sounds as if the engine is hesitating. Just changed 2 ignition coils and 4 plugs, as had the problem before, engine ran fine after the above parts change for about 6 hrs, then started same symptoms. Can anyone assist?? tks bj

Before you start throwing bags of parts at it, do the very easy stuff first, try a complete new remote tank, with hose, primer and fresh fuel, check for any filters that are in line and replace them after checking if there is/was any water in them, buying parts before proper trouble shooting will empty your wallet long before your motor is fixed (unless you get vey lucky)

Clean your carbs,thats the fault.

It is best to test what you can first to eliminate as much as possible.

Compression or even better a leak down test of motor to make sure it is still sealing properly.
Next spark on all cylinders can be checked with a spark tester or a inductive timing light. It will also tell you if the timing is advancing properly and on spec.

If all of that is good then you are left with a fuel problem to chase down.

5000 RPMs at WOT sounds to0 low to me
