piston rings 8hp Yamaha

when putting on new piston rings on a 8hp yamaha 2 stroke there is one ring that is carbon & one that is pollshed witch one on top

Don't know what model motor you have but look at rings one may have a bevel on inside of ring and needs to go into beveled groove in piston.

On my F150, there's marks on the top edge of the pings themselves.

The top ring has an "R" on it, the second compression ring an "RN" .

Both rings when installed should have the marking facing the top(upside of piston).
