Have 2001 SX250TURZ.
I used the winky Blinky YB-06795 to diag a no spark\starting issue
I would appreciate confirmation I am using the tool correctly and that my reading is reliable.
From what I read in the manual I thought I would need to crank the engine to get a read out. But I get a continuous reading with the key turned to the on position..(1 blink short pause then 3 blinks) which I have interpreted as code 13= Incorrect Pulser Coil Input Signal
1- can I assume this reading is accurrate? it does give the same reading with the engine cranking but the Bulb is considerably dimmer. I was just surprised to see the read out
2- If this is a good read out I believe my next step is to test the Peak output from the pulser coil... I assume I need a harness for this? part #
I do have a proper voltmeter and a PVA...but without the harness I am uncertain how I would be able to test Properly.
The Manual states that the test will indicate either the need to replace the Pulser Coil if the reading is below spec or the CDI if above spec.
I also understand that the process may not be concluded as the winky blinky will diplay the lowest value until that is corrected and 13 is the first code on the list.
Any advise would be appreciated...and the thought of bringing in a proper mechanic is first on my own list...I just want to be knowledgeable enough to avoid replacing parts that do not require replacement.
