If you look carefully under the top cowling you will find a canister type fuel filter that is either serviceable or replaceable. It may be metal or plastic, depending on model. You're smart to find it, check it, clean or replace as needed. You may want to consider installing a fuel/water seperator type canister filter(in addition to your under-cowl filter) on the inside of your transom for much better filtration. Walmart/Atwood unit is $27, easy to install, can save you a lot of fuel-related problems. Good Luck!
