1998 90 Over heating

Well arrived yesterday for a week of fishing at my favorite spot, then oh @#it! I ran about a mile and the alarm went off and she was running hot. Let it cool then it happened again, and again, and again. So here I am for a week of fishing and this happens. Beyond over heating motor seems to be running ok. She is spraying water out the back, so I am not sure if it is the water pump or impellar or both. I was told that the heads could be corroded and at high rpm's it will overheat. So today I ran her at 3000 rpm's and no problems. Any suggestions or recommendations to trouble shoot or fix? Thanks in advance to all!

Run it slow, below 3000RPM's, enjoy your fishing, when you get back home drop the lower unit, replace water pump, check/replace thermostat, any obstructions in water intake or circulation. Good Luck!
