Hello,
I have a 2004 F60TLRC carbed 60hp 4 stroke. This spring, I replaced the thermostat and water pump as routine maintenance. Recently, I have a problem with overheating at idle speed. This will happen regularly when the engine is warmed up and idles for more than 3-4 minutes.
Just to see what would happen, I pulled the thermostat - no difference. The strainer screens are clear, and I have no problems running over about 1500 RPM.
I have done a lot of googling about this and I keep seeing references to the "poppet valve", or water pressure relief valve. I have a manual for the motor, and I do not see anything about this part, nor can I find anything that might resemble this.
Any help would be appreciated before I take it to the dealer.
Thanks!
BK
