Does anyone know what could cause cylinders 1 and 3 to not fire on 150 v6 1988? I replaced the CDI after a yamaha mechanic said it was bad. I did that and I am beginning to suspect that something fried the CDI again as it ran okay for a little bit then 1 and 3 seemed to stop firing again.

Go to www.YamahaPubs.com and order a factory service manual for your motor, it'll have some tests in there to better help you troubleshoot your problem. Did you test the coils and plug wires? The plug wires just unscrew from the end of the coil if you need to replace them. Compression good? Carbs bowls and jets clean?
Did it sit unused for a long time?
