9.9 lower unit shim and prop wear ?

Rebuilding my '91 9.9 lower unit.

When pulling apart there were were shims that came off before I could see where they went. I have read something on this from Yamaha and it seems very technical.!

Basically, I have two very thin shims the same size that I don't know where they go.

Their outside and inside diameters do not look like they belong anywhere - although I know they do.

Also, my prop shaft is slightly worn where the oil seals ride - what is too much wear ?

Look at parts listing and service manual to help with location of shims. Any grooves in shaft is not a good thing.
