  • Power Tilt Problem

    Hi All,

I have a 2007 Yamaha F60 that only has 30 hours on it. Its like new and is hardly ever used. I used the engine on Monday and it was all fine. When I trailed the boat home I tried to trim the engine down and the power trim was so slow it almost stopped. I thought it might have been the battery. I trimmed it up on Tuesday ready to launch but when the boat was in the water again it trimmed down slowly then stopped half way. I couldn't get it down any further but it went up fine. I brought it home and charged the battery overnight. It still didn't make much difference but did trim down extremely slowly until it stopped just before maximum. It will trim up fine but just clicks now when I try to trim it down. I think if I leave it again for 24 hours it will trim down slowly ( hopefully ). Any suggestions what might be wrong ???

Mine is similar acts asif there is an air bubble or something. I can push down or lift up on it while using the motor switch to get it moving.
Have you got it fixed yet? CK

I have a slightly different problem. The trim will work going down but not up on my 2009 150tlr (two stroke) with maybe 30 hours on the motor. Makes for a very bad time on the ramp when it's dark, you motor is all the way down, but your lower unit trim won't raise the unit...so you can't pull up the ramp. My guess is a bad solonoid on the tilt/trim switch in the motor. Any other thoughts?

Not sure of the color of the wires on your tilt/trim but you need to bypass the switch and jump the cables. On mine blue is up and green is down. Had the same problem with my trailer switch. Took the switch apart and lightly sanded the contacts, works like a charm now.

          '05 150 Won't Tilt Up

Hi guys, new to the forum.
Yesterday my 150 wouldn't tilt/trim up. It went down, but when I got ready to move it, I could't get it to raise. I can hear the pump motor run when I push the switch but the motor doesn't move.
This is my first boat. I checked the manual and saw the section which speaks to the manual screw valve. I tried to turn it but couldn't get it to budge. I didn't have a large enough screwdriver, so was going to wait until I went by the house to get one.
Once I get the motor raised, I do I check the fluid?

          Thanks for your help.
